5 Ways to Use Essential Oils With Yoga

I’ve been using Young Living Essential Oils for almost as long as I’ve been practicing yoga. They compliment each other very well and I’ve found that I turn to both my yoga mat and essential oils for generally the same reasons. Below is a simple guide to help you incorporate oils in your yoga practice for specific purposes.

If you are new to yoga, pick one or two of the poses listed in the sequence and modify as needed.

PanAway Essential Oil#1: Relief from Aches

Who doesn’t have aches and pains? Yoga and oils can help with both!

Diffuse Peace and Calming. Rub Panaway and/or Peppermint on the area in pain and the bottoms of the feet.

Peace and Calming Essential Oil#2: Emotional Release

Emotions are a physiological event in the body. Let that sink in for a moment.

Thieves Essential OIl#3: Cleansing

I try to incorporate cleansing oils and poses on a daily basis to help process pollutants through my system.

Oils to Use:
Diffuse Purification or Thieves to cleanse your environment. Sip Lemon (1-2) drops in a 8-16 oz. glass of purified water throughout the day. Spray your yoga mat with a solution of Thieves (4-5 drops for a small glass bottle) diluted with water.

Yoga Sequence:
Alternate Nostril Breathing
Child’s Pose
Seated Spinal Twist
Locust
Wide Legged Forward Bend

Stess Away Essential Oil#4: Maintain Peace and Serenity

We’ve all experienced stress, but when our system is overloaded on a daily basis and pressure continues over time, the result can be life altering.

Oils to Use:
Diffuse Peace and Calming and/or Frankincense. Rub Stress Away on temples and wrists. Rub Lavender on third eye chakra. Rub Joy over heart chakra.

Yoga Sequence:
Child’s Pose
Ujayi Breath

Frankincense Essential Oil#5: Inspiration/Invigoration

Sometimes you just need a little pick-me-up in the middle of the day or even in the middle of your life. When fatigue, uneasiness, and sluggishness settle in, yoga and oils can help lift you out of a rut.

Oils to Use:
Diffuse Frankincense, Peppermint, or Lemon. Rub Frankincense over the third eye and crown chakra. Rub Valor on bottoms of feet and heart chakra. Sip 1 drop of Peppermint or Lemon in a 8-16 oz. glass of purified water.

Yoga Sequence:
