When was the last time you talked to yourself like someone you loved?

What is your inner voice saying? Mine can be pretty harsh sometimes. What if we stopped beating ourselves up so much and told the inner critic to take a hike? As Tara Brach (author of Radical Self Acceptance) says, “Feeling compassion for ourselves in no way releases us from responsibility for our actions. Rather, it releases us from the self-hatred that prevents us from responding to our life with clarity and balance.”

If we could get better by beating ourselves up, it probably would have already happened, don’t you think? Try releasing the shame and blame and ease up a bit. Get curious about how it would feel to be free of all that. Feels good doesn’t it?
